Dave and Lois Thompson started DALO
Glass Tinting in November 1985, serving Jefferson, Washington,
St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve with 2 trucks providing mobile
service and a shop located in Flat River, MO. Both
of them, previously Southwestern Bell Telephone Employees, Dave
having 22 years in the Yellow Page Sales and outside Plant
Supervision and Lois having 11 1/2 years in Employment Hiring
and Supplies Dept. Supervision felt that the
knowledge and experience gained through their employment at SWBT
provided them with the necessary skills needed to manage and run
their own business.
The real test came when they were
choosing a name for their new venture. After many hours of
conflicting thoughts, they reached an agreement. They
decided to keep it simple using DA (Dave) and LO (Lois)
Corporation as their name. To their surprise, DALO
Corporation was already a registered name in Missouri.
They settled for DALO Enterprises, Inc., realizing that this
name would not suggest the windshield repair business only and
left them open to add new products and services in the
future. Being patriotic, they chose red, white and blue
for the colors of their logo and the three stars to represent
their children, David, Niki and Mindy. After a year and a
half, they added replacement of automobile glass and solar glass
tinting to their specialties. At this time they also moved
their operation to St. Louis (South County) seeing a drastic
need for solar glass tinting on the large commercial buildings
and homes located in the St. Louis Area. The growth of
their business forced them into their existing location at 6258
Lemay Ferry Rd. This move offered them a large showroom to
exhibit all their products and services.
After fifteen
years, they sold off the glass portion of their business and are
concentrating their efforts on informing everyone of the
importance of solar films for their homes, businesses and
cars. The solar films can protect your carpets, drapes,
furniture or anything of value from fading. The solar
films can be applied to existing glass to cut down on heat,
glare and fading. While blocking 99% of the
Ultraviolet Rays, the films also help shatterproof the glass in
the event of an earthquake, tornado, violent storm or flying
objects by holding all of the broken glass in place on the film.
